Part 1- Office Ready with Michael Kors

I am sure you can tell by the title, yes this is a two part post! I know you are all bracing yourselves on the edge of your seat for what is to come for this look next week, but for now you will just need to hear me blab for part 1.

So I want to introduce you to my little friend he goes by the name of…Michael Kors.  Chic? Yes. Comfy? Yes. Confident? Yes. Affordable? Yes.  These basically would be my my responses if I had a one minute interview with Oprah about his line of clothing, a girl can dream! The look I am giving today is for an office ready combination with a black casual blazer and ankle wedges.  The one feature that I am obsessed with on this dress is the sinched center in the front.  It gives me a little bit more of that coverage to hide those pesky control top shorts lines that can sometimes show through on form fitting looks. I like to think if this dress could talk it would be saying, “peek a boo, can’t see this tummy beau!” Now I am thinking about that one commercial with the talking belly buttons, ok too far.

So here is the scoop, I got this dress last season from TJ Maxx for under $50 and the blazer for under $50 at Nordstrom Rack.  Since I am unable to give you guys the link to shop this look I am going to give you my suggestions on how to “recreate” this look. Scroll down to view and stay tuned for next week when I give this look a more casual twist!

Clash of the Patterns!

So the last time that I attempted a pattern clash was about 1990 when my mother gave me the independence to dress myself and let’s just say I was looking like an adorable hot mess, but nowadays pattern clashing can be a bit tricky. I am a firm believer in wear what makes you feel beautiful and let your creative side shine! So for those of you that want to hop on board this trend train here are 3 easy tips to remember:

1. Florals & Stripes & Everything Nice! This combo is great way to jump on this trend naturally with pieces that are most likely already in your wardrobe.

2. Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize! If you are just on the cusp of this trend then pick a bold pattern for your top or bottom and mix it with a bold purse or neck scarf.

3. Life is better with a lil leather!  If you are choosing to do floral on floral or stripes on stripes a great way to bring the look full circle can be with a leather jacket or blazer to wear to the workplace or for the after 5 club!

For all of my size XL and over size 12 gals out there I stopped into Zara for the first time this week and fell in love with their selection. They have amazing skirts that have a bit of a stretchy waistband and tops that have a bit of give. Accessories and shoes were totally reasonably priced as well.  I will definitely be back again!

One Dress Two Ways Babes!

One dress for all seasons…can I get a praisehands emoji! My bank account smiles when it sees deals like this.  Pulling off a look that can transition from summer to winter can be tricky and it all depends on what you add or take off. As much as I wish my flowy linen dresses can be rocked in the 20 degree weather here on the east coast it is a no no.  To master the best of both worlds trend depends on the material and color scheme.  So to put this into action I selected this amazing drop waisted dress that I got on sale at Target. By the way the sale section at Target and I are now besties, yes we even having matching BFF bracelets, be jealous.  The material is light in weight, but is not a sheer material which is perfect! With these factors I am able to wear this look bare legged in the summer/spring and in the fall/winter throw on a pair of tights and a jean or cargo jacket and you are set to go. In terms of color schemes don’t be afraid to rock pastels in the winter and fall! Pairing with darker tops or bottoms creates that balance. Now get out there and save that money girl!

The Must have Dress from Target!

As you all know I love a dress that can transition from summer to fall flawlessly and the Ava & Viv collection at Target does exactly that! So here are my top 3 reasons why this dress is a must have for any wardrobe, any body type, and any style!

1.  To belt or not to belt…it’s up to you!

Dress can be worn two ways with the jean belt that comes with the dress, without for a shif relaxed style, or pair with another skinny belt that is a bold color such as a red or mint!

2. Looking sweet in the summer and cozy in the fall

Great transition piece that can be worn in the summer like I have featured in the photos below or can be worn in the fall with ankle boots and a military style jacket or light cardigan. The material on this look is light enough so that you are not sweating like a glass of sweet tea and can be layered for the cooler months and still feel comfortable!

3.  For that before 5 crowd and after 5 too!

Can be worn as a day look for brunch with simple sandle flats or can be spiced up for that after 5 life with a pleather jacket and mule heels! Also, this look can be appropriate for all occasions.  With the full coverge in the chest area, but a little slit to spice it up, but not to spicy…like a mild pico de galo, my favorite!
