Jogging into NYFW- Day 3 Recap!

You are probably sitting there, just poured yourself a cup of coffee, getting ready to read this post and thinking THANK HEAVENS THIS IS HER LAST NYFW BLOG POST RECAP! I know I know…so much New York chat! To be honest I don’t think these ol hands could have the energy to recap NYFW all in one post. Well, let’s be honest I get easily distracted and it takes me a million years just to write two sentences that remotely make any sense. Is that popcorn I smell? I wonder what Dolly Parton is doing right now? Should I get a parrot? Yes, this is look inside my head and why these posts take so long for me to do. So spreading them out is best for all of us!

Our last day in NY we were blessed with an amazing sunny day as compared to the day before that was realllll rainy. The inspiration for Day 3 look was jungle safari, but make it FASHUN.  This off the shoulder trench dress dream from Eloquii made me feel super high fashion! I am usually not drawn to this kind of material, but it ended up being perfect. Oh and I didn’t discover the pockets till like after wearing it for 12 hours, which yes my reaction to discovering the pockets was over the top dramatic.

First stop was to the Vessel! Have you guys been to it?! OMG it feels like you are staring at a space ship, it is so cool! We shot some photos there and then headed to what is the most epic part of the trip…the Rebecca Minkoff Presentation! Yes…you heard me right. Please pick me up off the floor, I am done!!! The presentation was an amazing interactive experience filled with stunning models of different ages, sizes, and nationalities, which I was living for! bright colors, animal prints, with bits of pastel was making me swoon! Ok, I will stop explaining and let the pics below speak for themselves of this amazing collection!

Oh and I met Stacey London and Tess Holliday…life…is…complete…

Walking out of the presentation I was like a kid coming off of riding space mountain for the first time…I wanted to relive it again! Alas, we had another important stop to make…The Curvycon! It was so great hanging with my favorite gals from Eloquii, learning about new brands, and meeting girls that I have only connected with on Instagram in real life!

The grand finale though was running into Coco Rocha outside of a restaurant before heading back to our hotel…life also complete again!

Ok well, that’s all folks! Hope you enjoyed this little journey with me and I can’t wait to take you guys along with me for the ride again soon!

Fashionably Powerwalking into Day 2- NYFW Recap!

My deodorant has worn off, I have only had a piece of gum to eat in the past 8 hours, my feet feel like I have been walking with bricks on them all day. Nope…was not on a diet…was not training for a marathon…this was how I felt at the end of day 1 of NYFW. Ok, I am being superrrrrrrr dramatic, but ya know…that’s what we do around here.

After getting a bit more sleep we started off day 2 with a little bit more pep in our step! I slipped on this this little sequin midi skirt number you all may have remembered (or maybe you had no idea, because you have a life) that I wore this past February for NYFW, but it is such a perfect statement piece from Asos that didn’t break the bank. Now I know for balance if you have such a bold piece you should…emphasis on should…pair it with a basic top or jacket. Well, when in NY…a cropped leopard print moto jacket from Eloquii and white ankle boots from Asos felt right.

The two shows I saw were definitely on the opposite sides of the style world, but that is what I love about fashion…so much variety!

First show up was Damowang with a mix of relaxed earth tones, prints, and a pops of color definitely put me in a mood to incorporate oversized blazers and more trench inspired pieces into my life!

The second show, I Love Pretty, was a whole other moooooood! Well, the playlist was completely amazing…where can I burn a CD of that mix? Also, can you even burn CD’s anymore? I feel old. Now how do I best describe this collection. It was like 80’s punk meets hospital inspired glam? That sounds very confusing, but seriously I just need to let the pieces speak for themselves, check out their Instagram page! Hands down was one of the best shows I have been to!

After that show, we actually had a bit of time to sit, relax and enjoy brunch at Maman Tribeca with the hustle and bustle it was nice to sit down and enjoy the moment with a cup of coffee and a pastry…ok maybe 2 pastries…ok fine it was 3!!!!

We ended the night trying to get into the Flying Solo Presentation, which was my absolute favorite last year! Due to capacity, we weren’t able to get in, but after a nightcap at the Brass Monkey in the Meat Packing District I would say cheers to a successful day!

Sister Epic Giveaway!

It is so easy to get caught in the routine when it comes to shopping. You need an outfit or accessories for a party, you go to the mall or online to get it. The cheaper or discounted the better and if the fit works I am all about it. What I do not always do well is take the time to stop and think about how that product got into my hands, what journey did it take before me? Now I guess this is a call out to myself because I never stop to think about these things. Lately I have been trying to become more informed about companies and how their production practices are. I still have a lot to learn to transition into a more sustainable way of fashion, but I do feel like my use of Rent the Runway and only purchasing items that are not just one time wears will decrease my footprint on the environment.

Also, I do feel like another step in the right direction is purchasing products made by a person that you could call up and sit down and have a coffee with like my friend, Adrienne, who is the owner of Sister Epic. What is Sister Epic you ask? Well…sit down…kick your feet up…put on your favorite record and lets get to chatting.

SISTER EPIC is the luxury leather handbag line by Adrienne Guariglia. The designs are formed on paper and brought to reality, by hand, in Pittsburgh, PA. A balanced influence of geometry, minimalism and captivating textures are factors that unify and define our collections.”

Now isn’t that just a mission statement that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy?

But seriously the quality of these handbags are impeccable, the style is so unique, and I love a handbag that feels like it is part of the look so you don’t feel like you have to accessorize. BEST part is that these bags are all hand made and designed by Adrienne and it is so fun to see the behind the scenes moments on their Instagram page as she makes these little creations. Kind of gives you a moment to slow down and enjoy the art of how purses are made. I mean lets be honest the purse plays an important role in your day, that little baby follows you everywhere!

Now the really really reallllllly exciting part, I am doing a giveaway for one lucky winner to receive this adorable Lulu Iridescent Cardholder and also you will get a $50 credit towards your purchase of any Sister Epic items! How to enter is on my Instagram page, so make sure you pop over to @dreamyrealist_ for details!

Yes…those are pants!

I titled this post, “Yes, those are pants!” because 97.6% of the time you all see me in dresses and rarely rocking any type of pant. Well, in celebration of mixing it up I am throwing the ol fashion rule out the door that you should not wear loud prints or colors on areas on your body that you are trying to not draw attention to. Excuse me while I am over here like, “Why?” If you feel great in it, why not where it!

To be honest I can get pretty self conscious about my mid section. But, I drew my focus and energy towards how unique these high waisted wide leg trousers are! No matter if you are a double 00 to a size 28 we all have these little voices in our heads that tell us we can’t wear certain things because oh lordddd what will people think! Well, to be honest…no one looked at me…or cared. They are more focused on scrolling through their phones or eating a delicious acai bowl…I guess I mention that last one because I am getting pretty hungry at the moment.

Ok off my soapbox now on body positivity and let’s chat fashion. I got these gorgeous trousers from my friends at Navabi! I love how they give this bit of a magical illusion. You think it is a maxi skirt and BAM…its pants (Insert an awkward visual of me showing you its pants by doing lunges, twirls, and the running man).

These trousers are perfect for the gal that is not into wearing dresses and skirts…but wants to be. Well, here is your happy medium! You can style it a ton of ways too. Throw on a white crop top and metallic heels with it for a going out look or tuck in a tee and throw on a jean jacket and espadrilles for more casual vibes.

So if you are not feeling these pants, no worries I got you! I did a round up of some of my other favorite pairs below from Navabi with a price point that is super amazing for your spring wardrobe refresh!
