Gimmie that shoulder girl!

Is it so wrong to feel like Jessie Spano or the chacha lady emoji when wearing an off the shoulder top, or is it sooooo right? So excited to highlight with you guys this week on my new obsession with this trend!  As the summer winds down I wanted to make sure I give you guys a double dose of a look that has hit the racks of New York & Co. this season!  If you would have asked me to wear anything off the shoulder I would have been like, “ohhhh ummmm no, my shoulders are in ‘hulk’ mode.”  Even though I can barely even care my laundry basket up the stairs I am no where near hulk strong.  Well since I jumped on the body postitivity train I just had to put my insecurities aside and get on this trend.  Well clearly this trend is a winner since I bought two of this look!  The key to this trend is making sure you are selecting a top with extra stretch in the upper section around the shoulders or else before you know it looks like you are wearing a turtle neck in the 90 degree heat!  The off the shoulder look can also be a great transitional piece from the office to happy hour! Just throw on a blazer over these tops and then take it off for that after 5 gang and you are set to party! #chachaLadyForLife

Totesally!

So we have all been at the point in our lives when we go through what I like to call “spring simplifying.” For me it is more along the lines of slimming down my closet, canceling my account on Netflix, and going on a no carb diet.  Then before I know it a week later I have 3 new dresses from TJ Maxx, I have signed up again for Netflix AND Hulu, and I find myself stirring a large bowl of pasta.  It is a vicous, vicous, stylish, and carbo loaded cycle. Alas! I have broken the cycle and decided to take baby steps.

If you recall my post from a couple of months back about my resolution of taking in a nice bag means donating bags that have not been used in 2 years.  Well, I have stuck to that resolution and am donating to a great cause at the same time, win win! So here is how it went down. I made a little trip to TJ Maxx to buy a gift for a friend and of course in a blink of an eye I find myself in the purse section!  I then layed my eyes on this amazing retro tropical vibed tote and I could not resist and it was under $30! The size is perfect to throw in your laptop for work, gym clothes for Zumba, or perfect for carrying that bottle of wine and ice cream home from 7 eleven in a very incognito fashion.

In terms of outfit pairings with a bold tote keep it simple, just like my “spring simplifying.”  You do want your outfit to be in competition like DJ and Stephanie Tanner from Full House. Ok, had to mention that since I watched Fuller House yesterday and yes I am obsessed. I like to keep it basic with black, whites, or greys as the perfect complement to any statement bag or tote.

Share with me your favorite statement bag finds for this spring!

The Perfect Jacket and Jeans from TJ Maxx!

Who knew that craft beer and fashion could go so hand in hand! This past weekend the beau and I had a little date day to DC for the DC beerfest and of course the perfect opportunity for a fashion blog photoshoot! A couple of weeks ago I shared with you all my post about my latest fall favs and I wanted to share them with you in action, especially my olive green army style jacket from TJ Maxx for under $40.

Love this look since it has the perfect urban chic kind of feel.  Unfortunately, the weather was not so kind to us and it rained a majority of the time while we were at the festival. Oh ya know, just rocking that “frizzy hair don’t care” kind of look, all my curly haired ladies know what I am talking about #praisehands

If you are like me I am either sweating aggressively or shiverering obscenely in randomn places at randomn times.  So it is perfect to have that coat you leave on or off for any event and not look like you are that girl at the bar wearing a sleeping bag as a coat indoors.  Yes, I have been there and yes I have done that.

Also, wanted to share with you literally THE perfect pair of jeans from TJ Maxx for under $20, the brand Royalty for Me!  My reaction to the thought of jean shopping makes me want to curl up in the fetal postion in the middle of the floor.  But, upon a randomn excursion to find a new pair of black boots I found myself in the jean aisle in the size 14 section.  Unfortunately, I find size 14’s fitting in all the wrong places lately with too tight in the tummy, to big in the behind, or vice versa.  Then I accidently grabbed a pair of size 12’s that were in the 14’s.  After slipping them on in the fitting room it was a que the church bells kind of situation. They fit like a dream and I was still able to enjoy my lox bagel that morning!  Not only the size, but mainly the fit was perfect in terms of just the right amount of stretch without overstretching like some jegging brands tend to do.  There is also a ton of choices on their website of color, cuts, and styles too!

Is there such thing as pumpkin spice apparel?

Pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin spice candles, pumpkin spice sweets, pumpkin spice pumpkin, pumpkin spiced pumpkin spice…wait is it fall?  Oh yes, the hashtag #pumpkinspice everything has risen and even though I have a sensitive tummy to the fall fav, I am all aboard the fall train!  When changing over my wardrobe from summer to fall a single tear drop fell into my bin of summer sandals and dresses as a sad farewell. Is there such thing as seasonal seperation anxiety?  I guess I will WebMD that later.

Then I busted out my knee high boots and cozy scarves and I was then like “oh, hey you guysssssss I have missed you!”  After my rendezvous of joining up my old fall clothes with the new items that are in my closet wanted to share with you my new fall favs for under $40!

The military style jacket that sinches in the waist gives you the industrial kind of feel, but still feminely shapes to your body for $40 from TJ Maxx.  Also, from TJ Maxx pictured are rose gold hoops is a simple touch of an accessory that pairs perfect with any outfit for under $15.  Statement necklace was an amazing find from New York and Co. for under $10 in their sale section!  I got this necklace about two weeks ago and there was plenty of selection to choose from along with their stylish collection of fall looks.  Sunglasses are also from New York and Co. for under $20.  Love this shape because they don’t take over my especially round face and it does not look like I am wearing a pair of my nieces toy sunglasses.  The shade of brown is the perfect look for the fall season.  Shoes are from Target for under $20.  If you remember this pair from one of my past posts, they are actually not Kendall and Kylie, but perfect look alikes from Target for half the price!
