Summer Trend Alert- Drop Waist!

The trend this season is most definitely the drop waist!  You can see this look on tops, dresses, tunics, you name it.  First glance at a drop waist it almost appears as if a peplum and a regular top had a love child it would be the drop waist. All jokes aside I am a full supporter of this lil duo!  Before trying my first drop waist top on I was afraid that I was going to look like the cheerleader I once aspired to be in middle school, but unfortunately never made it past first cuts due to my lack of being able to to anything that involved being flexible or coordinated.  Once I slipped this little number on from Target’s Who What Wear collection I did a jump for joy, yes literally in the dressing room, that it number 1 fit in all the right places and number 2 was at an amazing price of under $30! My recommendation to rock the drop waist is all about length.  Tops that have this feature should sit right below your waist, but not to long so that it does not look like you are trying to rock a reallllllllllly short dress unintentionally.  Also choosing a flowy material is perfect so that it can be layered easily with a blazer or casual jean jacket!

Stripes All Day Everyday!

It has definitely been a year of the stripes for me if you haven’t noticed in at least the 5 million posts featuring stripes, but I can’t help it, girl needs her stripes! Growing up, in all of the fashion magazines stripes on a curvy girl was always seen as a no no, stating it makes you “look bigger.” I would like to have a chat with the scientists, mathmeticians, fashion gurus or whoever made up these calculations because in my eyes it is totally not true! If anything I feel like it is flattering on all body types.  Featured in this post is an amazing top I snagged from of course, Target, in the Who What Wear section. At first glance this sleeve game was a bit intimidating, but I have grown to love them! This look pairs perfect with a high waisted pant, jeans, or even a maxi skirt if you really want to get the party started! Get this look now for under $30, perfect for your next weekend look.  If you have a stripe obession too comment “Oh yeah girl!”

Loving that Palm Tree Life!

The time has come!  Palm trees have found their way into the workplace, and it is totally appropriate!  For many, the thoughts of palm trees on apparal may go to that one shirt your uncle wears at every summer family reunion as his “party shirt.” Simply put the button up hawaiian style tee with palm trees galore.  Don’t get me wrong I love the vibes of a happy person in a happy tropical tee, but the cut and style of the palm tree pattern can really be tricky for transitioning from the backyard bbq to the board room.  So wanted to share with you guys this little number from last season H&M.

When rocking the palm trees in the office always good to stick to basics on the color scheme. You know the usual suspects black, white, beige, grey, etc. so that you can pair bold colors such as a statement necklace, blazer, or hand bag!  Also, with a killer pattern you need to keep in mind the length for the occasion. Save the maxi for that beach party and above the knee look for after 5.  The midi length is great for the office scene and do not think you need to be amazon woman tall to pull this off, you can do it no matter your height!

This look is simply the vest!

So as you all probably already know, but if you don’t know, now you know…ya know?  Who What Wear has come out with a line for women’s clothing at Target! Of course you know when the line hit the stores I ran into Target like I was Mel Gibson in Braveheart. Bursting through the automatic doors, grabbing my Target cart like it was my loyal steed and went full speed ahead to the women’s section. Note, that explanation was a bit dramatized, but there was a bead of sweat coming down my forehead so that counts! If you had a chance to read my post from last month on my review of this clothing line I gave it 5,000 stars, 4 A pluses, and a jumping high five to Who What Wear for having an amazing selection of styles and sizes. Did I mention their line comes in XXL and size 14…love love love!

So excited to share with you guys my favorite piece that I got my hands on.  Pictured is this amazing olive green trench vest! The best feature is there are pockets for daysssss, and we all know how much I love a good pocket! At first glance on the hanger I had a “hmmm…” look on my face.  Was not sure if this would be one of those “looks better on the hanger” situation.  As I headed to the fitting room with what felt like 10,000 pieces of clothing to try on my grand finale was trying on the vest. Once I slipped it on and did a twirl I knew it was the perfect find and was under $40!  For this vest I kept it simple and paired a basic black tunic, jeans, and black booties.  I thought this piece was so unique that I did not want to take any attention away from the amazing detail!  If you are not feeling the olive green look it also comes in black!
