Summer Wrap Up!

I am with great sorrow to state that this is the final summer outfit post! Although, somedays I am like it feels like some, “hot fun in the city,” Wait…I think that is how that songs goes, but alas we are in full blown pumpkins on pumpkins on pumpkins season. So I wanted to share with you guys my top 3 favorite trends that went down this summer that are literally all summed up just in this outfit!

  1. Florals & Palm Prints– I was all about that flower power this summer and all things palms. They are a print that can totally transition from day to night with light pastel colors for daytime looks all the way to dark florals for evening fun. Even with the palm trend you could pair like my look for example with a floppy woven hat and sandals for a day at the beach and then for evening just throw on a pair of heels and statements earrings and there you go…a whole new feel just from a palm print!

2. Baubles– You all know I am all about a bold earring! I have been in love with the beaded tassels trend.  With a touch of a bold earring can help those of you that want to step outside of your fashion comfort zone, but not too far, its the perfect match! A bold earring can give your classic black dress a bit of a flirty flare.

3. Bold Clutches– I felt like my Instagram this summer was flooded with adorable bright colored, embroidered, tasseled, pom pom everything with clutches.  With these bold statement details can give any simple look like a basic tee and distressed jean shorts a little bit more of that “oomf” without having to try! Clutches have really become less about being just a purse to hold randomn receipts, chapstick, and that other earring back you have been looking for, but more as an accessory to complete your look.

So unfortunately this dress is 3 years old so I do not have the link to shop it, but I did find one that is similar below. Looking forward to what fall will bring, what trends are you excited about?!

Loving that Palm Tree Life!

The time has come!  Palm trees have found their way into the workplace, and it is totally appropriate!  For many, the thoughts of palm trees on apparal may go to that one shirt your uncle wears at every summer family reunion as his “party shirt.” Simply put the button up hawaiian style tee with palm trees galore.  Don’t get me wrong I love the vibes of a happy person in a happy tropical tee, but the cut and style of the palm tree pattern can really be tricky for transitioning from the backyard bbq to the board room.  So wanted to share with you guys this little number from last season H&M.

When rocking the palm trees in the office always good to stick to basics on the color scheme. You know the usual suspects black, white, beige, grey, etc. so that you can pair bold colors such as a statement necklace, blazer, or hand bag!  Also, with a killer pattern you need to keep in mind the length for the occasion. Save the maxi for that beach party and above the knee look for after 5.  The midi length is great for the office scene and do not think you need to be amazon woman tall to pull this off, you can do it no matter your height!

What do you pair with palm trees? Comment below!

The Rise of the Printed Pant!

We have all heard the saying you should not wear large prints because it will draw attention to parts of your body that you want to hide.  Ummmm yeah about that…I think that idea needs to be put to rest.  The rise of the printed pant has come and I could not be more excited!  I believe that any style can be worn by any body type, but finding the right fit and color patterns are definetely key!  The pants I wanted to highlight in this post are from last season at New York and Co. for under $40!

 2015-05-03 20.10.16

I was drawn to the pattern at first glance and thought no wayyyyy could I ever pull these off.  Then my inner Beyonce emerged and I did an imaginary hair flip, pulled out the size 14, and made my way to the dressing room.  After slipping them on I immediately felt a sigh of relief that I did not have to do the traditional pants dance, you know the one I am talking about.  The lunge, jump, pull we have all had to do at one time or another in the dressing room almost on the verge of sweating to get a cute pair of jeans or dress pants on.

The key to statement pants shopping is to be on the lookout for lightweight material, especially in a poly blend for a bit of stretch but snug in the right places!  Also, the highwaisted look with the drawstring gave the look of these pants a casual feel, but can also be dazzled up a bit too.  I paired my fav tops from a basic to bold with details below to give you a visual of how to pattern clash and color coordinate as well!
