Clash of the Patterns!

So the last time that I attempted a pattern clash was about 1990 when my mother gave me the independence to dress myself and let’s just say I was looking like an adorable hot mess, but nowadays pattern clashing can be a bit tricky. I am a firm believer in wear what makes you feel beautiful and let your creative side shine! So for those of you that want to hop on board this trend train here are 3 easy tips to remember:

1. Florals & Stripes & Everything Nice! This combo is great way to jump on this trend naturally with pieces that are most likely already in your wardrobe.

2. Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize! If you are just on the cusp of this trend then pick a bold pattern for your top or bottom and mix it with a bold purse or neck scarf.

3. Life is better with a lil leather!  If you are choosing to do floral on floral or stripes on stripes a great way to bring the look full circle can be with a leather jacket or blazer to wear to the workplace or for the after 5 club!

For all of my size XL and over size 12 gals out there I stopped into Zara for the first time this week and fell in love with their selection. They have amazing skirts that have a bit of a stretchy waistband and tops that have a bit of give. Accessories and shoes were totally reasonably priced as well.  I will definitely be back again!

Cupcake Dress Anyone?

So a recent conversation with a friend of mine went as follows when I came out wearing the dress pictured below, “does this dress make me look like a not so great version of a cupcake or an adult Shirley Temple?”  To my surprise my friends response was, “ummm well that was randomn and girl that dress is fierce on you!” So from that response I knew I had to make this look into a post to share with you all.

So if you all can recall my excitement last week about the buy 1 get 3 free amazing sale at New York and Company this was look #2! Typically I am into the flowy, move when you twirl, kind of dresses, but the structure on this dress is on point!  With the large banded waist hits in the perfect place to accentuate those hips if you share a similar shape to me. The bottom half of the dress has more of a ribbed kind of texture, which hold its shape through the day.  I will say that with this kind of material is best for a spring event where is it a bit cooler than in the summer since this material holds a bit of weight to it. Accessories?  No need to overdue it when you have a textured skirt with bold colors, just simple earrings and a bracelet is all you need for a look similar to this.

One Dress Two Ways Babes!

One dress for all seasons…can I get a praisehands emoji! My bank account smiles when it sees deals like this.  Pulling off a look that can transition from summer to winter can be tricky and it all depends on what you add or take off. As much as I wish my flowy linen dresses can be rocked in the 20 degree weather here on the east coast it is a no no.  To master the best of both worlds trend depends on the material and color scheme.  So to put this into action I selected this amazing drop waisted dress that I got on sale at Target. By the way the sale section at Target and I are now besties, yes we even having matching BFF bracelets, be jealous.  The material is light in weight, but is not a sheer material which is perfect! With these factors I am able to wear this look bare legged in the summer/spring and in the fall/winter throw on a pair of tights and a jean or cargo jacket and you are set to go. In terms of color schemes don’t be afraid to rock pastels in the winter and fall! Pairing with darker tops or bottoms creates that balance. Now get out there and save that money girl!

Because you know I’m all about that lace, bout that lace…

…no treble! Couldn’t help myself on that pun (cue pity laugh and crickets). So when I think of an all lace dress my mind tends to drift to the thoughts of me wearing my late grandmothers compilation of doilies sewn together in a poncho formation that just does nothing for a gals figure….WRONG! I mean really, really, realllllllly, wrong!  My mindset completely changed when I came across this little peach lace number from Torrid. This dress has the perfect fit in all the right places especially in the chest area with room in the hip section for the perfect twirl and comfort!

I am all about a look that can be worn from season to season.  This dress is perfect for exactly that!  On those hot sunny days in the summer this look can be paired with wedge sandals heading on your way to the farmers market or throw that jean jacket back on with ankle booties for a fall feel while apple picking! Shop this look now online or in stores!

Ok, so here are my last corny puns on lace…lace of spades, lace of base, lace is more…and on that note have an amazing weekend everyone!
