Clash of the Patterns!

So the last time that I attempted a pattern clash was about 1990 when my mother gave me the independence to dress myself and let’s just say I was looking like an adorable hot mess, but nowadays pattern clashing can be a bit tricky. I am a firm believer in wear what makes you feel beautiful and let your creative side shine! So for those of you that want to hop on board this trend train here are 3 easy tips to remember:

1. Florals & Stripes & Everything Nice! This combo is great way to jump on this trend naturally with pieces that are most likely already in your wardrobe.

2. Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize! If you are just on the cusp of this trend then pick a bold pattern for your top or bottom and mix it with a bold purse or neck scarf.

3. Life is better with a lil leather!  If you are choosing to do floral on floral or stripes on stripes a great way to bring the look full circle can be with a leather jacket or blazer to wear to the workplace or for the after 5 club!

For all of my size XL and over size 12 gals out there I stopped into Zara for the first time this week and fell in love with their selection. They have amazing skirts that have a bit of a stretchy waistband and tops that have a bit of give. Accessories and shoes were totally reasonably priced as well.  I will definitely be back again!

Banana Republic and Who What Wear VIP Shopping Party Review!

A couple of weeks ago I had the amazing opportunity to attend the Banana Republic & Who What Wear VIP Shopping Event! Pop the bubbly, pass the dessert, turn up that music, whip your hair back and forth is what I immediatly wanted to start estatically screaming when I walked into the party because it was poppin!  The vibe was fabulous with the energy of amazing staff, pops of color galore, and so many of my favorite summer trends being displayed!

The looks you could spot at this relaunch was alot of off the shoulder with stripe or chambray.  Florals also were making a big appearance with neon statment dresses.  High waisted wide leg and boyfriend cut jeans were what I was mainly drooling over.  What I was most surprised is that much of their selection had at least a couple XL or size 14, which for a gal like me is hard to come by! Well, in reality that is just the first step. Next comes going to the dressing room to see if these are actually true to size.  To my delight the items I selected totally were…woo hoo jumping pose!

Banana Republic is back and in full force with their new and improved fresh vibe, check them out people!

Summer Trend Alert- Drop Waist!

The trend this season is most definitely the drop waist!  You can see this look on tops, dresses, tunics, you name it.  First glance at a drop waist it almost appears as if a peplum and a regular top had a love child it would be the drop waist. All jokes aside I am a full supporter of this lil duo!  Before trying my first drop waist top on I was afraid that I was going to look like the cheerleader I once aspired to be in middle school, but unfortunately never made it past first cuts due to my lack of being able to to anything that involved being flexible or coordinated.  Once I slipped this little number on from Target’s Who What Wear collection I did a jump for joy, yes literally in the dressing room, that it number 1 fit in all the right places and number 2 was at an amazing price of under $30! My recommendation to rock the drop waist is all about length.  Tops that have this feature should sit right below your waist, but not to long so that it does not look like you are trying to rock a reallllllllllly short dress unintentionally.  Also choosing a flowy material is perfect so that it can be layered easily with a blazer or casual jean jacket!

Do you like this new summer trend on the rise? Type YES in the comment box if you agree!

Stripes All Day Everyday!

It has definitely been a year of the stripes for me if you haven’t noticed in at least the 5 million posts featuring stripes, but I can’t help it, girl needs her stripes! Growing up, in all of the fashion magazines stripes on a curvy girl was always seen as a no no, stating it makes you “look bigger.” I would like to have a chat with the scientists, mathmeticians, fashion gurus or whoever made up these calculations because in my eyes it is totally not true! If anything I feel like it is flattering on all body types.  Featured in this post is an amazing top I snagged from of course, Target, in the Who What Wear section. At first glance this sleeve game was a bit intimidating, but I have grown to love them! This look pairs perfect with a high waisted pant, jeans, or even a maxi skirt if you really want to get the party started! Get this look now for under $30, perfect for your next weekend look.  If you have a stripe obession too comment “Oh yeah girl!”
