The must have dress for your closet!

Anyone else wanting to wear their pajamas in public this week? I must be feeling some type of seasonal fashion depression as of late with the weather going from hello two piece bathing suit weather to ok where is my parka it is -12 outside.  So how does one stock their closet for these tricks mother nature is pulling on us? Transitional dresses are the answer!

Now when it comes to purchasing transitional dresses what matters the most in my opinion is the material, fit, and print.  This does sound like a no brainer, but purchasing dresses without some of these specific details may leave you in the cold or having pit stains that almost reach down to your waistline…been there…seriously…not fun.  My go to transitional dress this season has been this very light knit, long sleeve, cross chested dress by Who What Wear from Target.  Ok, I have to confess I am pretty sure I have an obsession with this brand, but I mean come on their prices are on point and they have a variety of sizes for all of their pieces!

This dress is perfect because if the weather is a bit warmer this can be worn with bare legs, open toed heels, and you can skip the jacket.  If it is more on the cooler side you can pair this dress with tights, ankle boots, and a leather motto jacket.  If you feel like a mix of both you can even style it how I pictured here with bare legs, ankle boots, and no jacket!

Purse, TJ Maxx, under $40 | Booties, ASOS, undr $50
Earrings, Francesca’s, under $30

The material has the perfect amount of stretch to it and with that little bit of sparkle can give you the total glam vibes by adding simple accessories. This dress was under $50 and you can buy it online as well.  I also included a couple of other great transitional dresses from the Who What Wear collection with links to shop!

Check out these other great styles from the Who What Wear collection at Target:

Oh Hello Autumn!

As I awoke last week and opened my newsfeed I saw posts of pumpkin, plaid, pumpkin spice, and all things fall! Happy first of Autumn everyone! As I leaped (more like sluggishly crawled out) out of bed to get dressed my first thought was yesssss time for boots, sweaters, and all things cozy! As I slipped on my jeans, suede booties, and sweater to hop out the door and start walking to my car it looked like someone poured a bucket of water on me was how much I started sweating. Note to self, even though it is the first day of Autumn the weather can still be a scorching 90 degrees! So this post is dedicated to my gals out there who want that fall style, but want to feel literally “cool” in this warmer weather!

The look I am giving you is a sweater dress with a partial higher neckline, a sleeveless trench vest, and black pleather booties.  The sleeveless sweater dress is a great staple piece for your closet since it gives you the feel of fall and this can transition perfectly when it is colder pairing with a leather jacket or high boots. At first, the trench vest felt a little hard to pair with different looks, but I got some inspo from the Who What Wear Collection Instagram! It can also pair great with jeans and a black tee as seen in my post last year.

So I know what you are thinking that the fashion gods may frown upon me for wearing a midi dress and I am wearing ankle boots which will make my legs appear “shorter.” To be perfectly honest, I felt great in this look and that is what matters! Forget the rules, wear what feels good!

What are your favorite trends you are looking forward to this fall? Let’s start the convo, comment below!

Part 2- Weekend Dress Ready with Michael Kors

Part 2, part 2, part 2…hooray for part 2 on what was my favorite work dress by Michael Kors has also turned into my favorite weekend dress as well! I would like to think this was because I am a skilled magician, no it is just that Michael Kors is a fashion guru and made this look happen.  So if you read my post last week you should be well versed in my obsession with the versatility and detail of this dress.  Also, the poly blend material is perfect for transitioning from a day to night look.  So unfortunately the looks I got below were on sale and are not currently on those brands websites so I linked below pieces that you can recreate this look!

What are your favorite brands that transition great from day to night? Comment below!

Part 1- Office Ready with Michael Kors

I am sure you can tell by the title, yes this is a two part post! I know you are all bracing yourselves on the edge of your seat for what is to come for this look next week, but for now you will just need to hear me blab for part 1.

So I want to introduce you to my little friend he goes by the name of…Michael Kors.  Chic? Yes. Comfy? Yes. Confident? Yes. Affordable? Yes.  These basically would be my my responses if I had a one minute interview with Oprah about his line of clothing, a girl can dream! The look I am giving today is for an office ready combination with a black casual blazer and ankle wedges.  The one feature that I am obsessed with on this dress is the sinched center in the front.  It gives me a little bit more of that coverage to hide those pesky control top shorts lines that can sometimes show through on form fitting looks. I like to think if this dress could talk it would be saying, “peek a boo, can’t see this tummy beau!” Now I am thinking about that one commercial with the talking belly buttons, ok too far.

So here is the scoop, I got this dress last season from TJ Maxx for under $50 and the blazer for under $50 at Nordstrom Rack.  Since I am unable to give you guys the link to shop this look I am going to give you my suggestions on how to “recreate” this look. Scroll down to view and stay tuned for next week when I give this look a more casual twist!
