Say Hello to your Solemate!

I was driving somewhere the other day…no joke it is so true how you feel like you lose all sense of time and such during the days between Christmas and NYE…I don’t even remember where I was driving. Also, wasn’t even sure if I made it out wearing the same shoes. All I know is that I could immediately tell you how many naps I have taken and how much of that delicious honey ham I have ate. Hopefully some of you can relate to this and if not…well…this is my life. Anywho, I was driving around lost somewhere and the song “These boots were made for walkin” came on and the idea for this post popped into my head!

In a lot of ads & posts about NYE looks and inspo I see many revolved around the dress, jumpsuit, skirt, etc. as the main centerpiece, which I think is absolutely important, but what about what you dress up those toes with!? I vividly remember the NYE quite a few years back where I did not plan my footwear situation that well in advance and ended up with peep toes in the snow trecking through downtown Chicago! Well, that will never be happening again and I do not want it happening to you my lovely friends either.

Usually when I think NYE looks I immediately think of crazy, metallic, embellished beauties but as said based around the weather I did a round up of a bit of both for inspiration for you guys. Some functional, some fashional, and some just who knows but they are epic!

Will your feet be kicked up on the couch in cozy slippers or dancing the night away when the clock strikes 12?! I will probably have my feet propped up on the couch…with heels on. It’s called balance right?!

XO

Parting ways with your pairs of shoes

“These boots are made for walkin and that’s just what they’ll do, maybe one day these boots are gonna walk all over you…well, lately I feel like maybe these boots have been walking a little too much, meaning I have a tendency to wear my shoes to the ground!” That would be my remix to this classic song, can anyone else relate?!

When doing a closet clean out for my size biz, Take 2 Styling, the one piece in many of my clients wardrobes that I see consistently having the most of is shoes! I can totally understand why since a majority of our shoes are seasonal and get put away in a container and up to the attic it goes to be forgotten about. Also, we all know too well the pretty Kate Spade boxes we keep and store our special occasion shoes that we forget about and then we go out and buy a new pair, which eventually gets added to this pile. Before we know it our shoe collection feels like Mount Shoeamanjaro.

During closet cleanouts with my clients this is one of the first parts that I start with.  I have my clients bring every single shoe that they own into their bedroom and lay them on the floor.  I mean EVERY SHOE from the ones you garden with to the ones you can’t wear anymore because they are sky high stilettos!

So my inner cheerleader is going to bust out…READY? OK!

Give me an S-Save the pairs you have worn in the past year. Can’t remember the last time you wore                                       them? It may be time to part ways.

Give me an H-Holes or other damages such as to the heel or scuff marks should be donated

Give me an O– Only keep the pairs that do not hurt or give you those painful blisters

Give me an E– Every time you purchase a pair of shoes you should donate or consign a pair

What does that spell?! BURRITO…just kidding, clearly I have dinner on my mind…it spells SHOE! Following this little cheer as just a cheat sheet for how to part ways with those pairs and to get organized, spring is here people!

My New Year Fashion Resolution!

As you all know my inspo for this blog has been fashion dreamer on a realist budget.  Well the dream of owning designer brands has not been totally out of reach as of late!  Part of my New Years resolution was to start living my life with the idea of quality over quantity.  My new attempted outlook on life can be put into play in many parts of my life, but for entertainment sake lets focus on fashion!

Well, I started this new resolution with my most recent purchase of my girl Tory…Tory Burch!  Was able to snag a black leather with gold accented purse that originally costs between $400-500 on consignment for $100!  It also was a perfect find since the interior was pristine! Like I mean you could eat pita chips and hummus inside of this thing.  Note to self…do not ever attempt.

On the flipside of this purchase I made a pinky promise to myself of consigning three purses that I have not worn in the past 2 years.  This was also the same for the killer pair of Tory short heels in perfect condition that also are originally priced for $500 for $110 on consignment.  Then you know the drill consigning three pairs that have not been worn in the past 2 years.  With my two purchases and consigning about 6 items everything kind of comes full circle with me most likely being able to make back half of what I spent. Go math skills!

Now the Tory perfume was not purchased on consignment, but it smells fabulous and was an amazing gift from a friend.  So I obviously had to share with you all! Share with me your New Year fashion resolutions!
