Finally Fall!

Anyone else been lately experiencing the feeling of what I like to call “Forcing Fall?” What I mean by this is when September 1st hits we have put our rompers and bikini tops away and have changed our closets to be full of cozy sweaters, scarves, and boots galore. Also, forget about iced coffees…bring on the pumpkin spice lattes! Well, if you experienced anything like how the weather was in the DMV it was literally in the 90’s till like last week. Which on a global perspective concerns the heck out of me that is it this warm in the midst of fall. To give you a proper visual imagine me in jeans, casual sweater, cargo jacket, and knee high boots with warm cider in hand SWEATING as I wander through a pumpkin patch. Smiling and having a ball on the outside, but on the inside feeling like I am literally melting from the heat.

Now that we are in the middle of October the weather has started to shift to its regularly scheduled programming, which I am sure many of you are literally jumping for joy, but be careful when jumping with boots on, that is a rolled ankle waiting to happen!

So to kick off the fall festivities why not celebrate with this stunning multi colored floral gem of a dress from Navabi! Perfect for this transitioning weather which as you note I had ankle strap heels on since at the time of this photoshoot it was 85 degrees!

Also, picture this look with knee high brown leather boots…can you see it?! Yes, so good! Now this is not your traditional tie waisted dress. This dress has the ties on the side and ties in the front to give you amazing shape. One night out I actually unbuttoned the bottom part of the dress and tied it in a knot to wear it as a top with dark skinny jeans and ankle boot heels! Yassssssss for versatile pieces, am I riiiiight?!

Not only this look, but there are tons of cute pieces from the Annalisa Collection from Navabi that I am swooning over, see below and shop my look by clicking this link!

What Would Dolly Do?

On my commute last week I tuned into my usual episode of Straight Talk with Ross Matthews. No joke, this show literally has me laughing out loud in my car. Even more awkward is when I am on a run listening to the episode and I just start hysterically laughing alone in public. The episode I tuned into was about Ross’s adventure to Dollywood! Literally it had me cry laughing once again so you all need to go have a listen to it immediately.

After all of the posts over the weekend dedicated to all the hard working mamas or women that have played major influences in our lives it got me to start thinking. Of course the influential women in my life that I see in my day to day like my mom, sisters, aunts, best friends, came to mind, but also women that I admire from afar. So why not give a shout out to my girl Dolly Parton!

Of course, yes I love her songs but even more I love how much of a boss woman she is. She is not only a musician but also an actress, philanthropist, author, entrepreneur, fashion icon, and so much more! Guys she literally has a theme parked named after her!!!!! Can’t forget her collection of iconic quotes my favorite especially, “It’s hard being a diamond in a rhinestone world,” and “It costs a lot of money to look this cheap!”

I truly love how she wears what she wants and dang she wears it so well! Sometimes I think we all need to be a bit more like Dolly. Wear those gold heels, buy that sequin jacket, or that bold red lipstick! Just think WWDD…What Would Dolly Do?

So since we are always talking fashion around here I did a round up of some of my favorite Dolly looks from over the years. Oh and forgot to mention this tee was given to me from my girl Dani of Blonde in the District for my birthday, best…gift…everrrrrrrr! I feel like this satin bomber jacket from Navabi is also a perfect addition to my Dolly vibes, I think it would be Dolly approved. Ok so tell me who is your style icon that you admire?

The new neutral with Navabi

Hooray! The day is finally here! I have been really looking forward to sharing this look with you all after being snowed in for two days.  Also, I needed a bit of positivity in my life after I almost wiped out on the ice trying to get some fresh air. No muscles were pulled, just my pride, ok and maybe my lower back. Anywho, if you all remember a couple of weeks ago in my post (check it out here if you missed it) I chatted with you guys about this new brand, Navabi, that I started working with. I gave you all the scoop on how I am obsessing over this German based brand who also has a US website. When I say there is variety in the styles they offer I reallllllllly mean it.

So the the piece I snagged from their website was this leopard skirt. Of course I was almost putting more floral prints in my cart because that has literally been my weakness these past couple of years. In the spirit of trying something new my eyes led me to this beauty.

Lately though I have been hearing from all the style gurus out there that animal print is the new neutral. When I heard this piece of advice I was highly debating it. To be honest when I thought of leopard print my mind immediately took me to episodes of The Nanny. Talk about aspiring to style goaaaaaaals. I feel like I watched that show as a kid usually never really understanding what the heck was happening in the story line since I was more focused on Fran’s epic outfits. Especially the leopard print looks, which felt no where near subtle in the best way!

Well, when I received this piece and started to style it I will have to say that I can now completely agree that animal prints are the new neutral. You can wear these prints on a variety of styles like dresses, sweaters, blouses, shoes, clutches and can be paired with bold fun colors or with basics like black, white, grey and more.

What helped in inching me towards incorporating more animal prints into my wardrobe is tuning into how my favorite bloggers that I know personally work this into their closet. If you need a bit of convincing too, head over to my Instagram stories to see these fashionistas!

To make the search easier for you guys I also did a round up from the Navabi site on other animal print options that are irresistible! How do you wear or style animal print?! Do you guys think it is the new neutral?! Oh and don’t forget, for my followers if you use ‘catherine15’ at checkout you can get 15% off your purchase until February 28th!

Ringing in 2019 with Navabi!

NYE is the one night of the year where we can really go all out with the glam, glitz, furs, and glitter galore…ok who am I kidding you should sport these all year round! Nothing better than ringing in the new year dressed in your best ready to step into the year with new goals and getting a chance to press the reset button on life. I am still trying to think of what my new years resolution is, but honestly I feel like every couple of months I am having a mini new years with new goals and lifestyle changes for a healthier and more creative life.

Speaking of living a more creative perspective on life why not literally start on New Years Eve! So if you saw my Instagram post yesterday I teased you all a bit with staying tuned on what I wore for NYE would not be what was expected. Well, I actually decided to keep it a low key new years and stayed in to drink champs, sing karaoke with my family, eat 12 grapes for good luck and literally fall asleep at 12:06 AM. Yes, I would totally chat about my cozy slippers that I stepped into the new year with, but that wouldn’t be too much fun for you guys.

So let’s chat about how if I did have a night on the town I would have switched out my glitter and glitz for bold and bright colors in a new brand that I just discovered! Earlier last month I had the lovely team at Navabi, which is a brand based in Germany, reach out to me about collaborating. I had never heard of them before, which makes it that much more exciting to share with you guys my thoughts on this brand.

Before this collaboration I checked out their Instagram and fell in love with their whole aesthetic and how some of my favorite bloggers have styled their pieces. I decided to go for a look that I was comfortable with, which of course you all know is florals, and one where I went outside the box a bit. You will have to stay tuned for my second look though…it’s gonna be good! The fit and feel on this floral dream by Manon Baptiste is glorious! Perfect for work and play since it gives great shape and can we talk about the slit on this dress…yessssss please!

From first glance at their website they have pieces that truly can speak to anyone’s style. For the gal that loves to sport pieces that are bold in colors and patterns all the way to the gal that prefers a quality go-to basic tee or chic blazer I was really impressed with the variety.  I was a bit nervous on sizing since I feel like with some European brands I need to size up 2-3 sizes, which can make it tricky on what fits the first time. Navabi has a US website though so you can feel comfortable with choosing what is right for you. I would recommend going a size up though just to be on the safe side. You can’t beat their price points either! I was really impressed with how the price totally matches the quality.

Ok enough blabbing from me, here are a few of my favorites on their US website. Cheers to a new year and discovering new amazing brands that I hope you all love!
