Day 2: NYFW Recap!

You know when you have that little tingle in the back of your throat and you think to yourself, oh I’ll be fine I am sure it is just allergies. Welp, I was wrong. On Day 2 of my adventures in NY for NYFW I awoke to what felt like itty bitty razor blades in my throat. The dramatic NOOOOOOOOOOOOO and then dropping to my knees to then be sobbing on the floor in fetal position was pretty much the image in my head when I realized I was getting sick. With a lot of tea and trying to hydrate as much as I could I was like nope this is not going to ruin my weekend. So I slapped on some red lipstick and out the door we went!

Day 2 actually started off with meeting with the amazing babes from Eloquii! During our meeting I asked the gals in a very touristy sounding fashion “Sooooo have do you guys see celebs like on a daily basis!?!” As they are listing off the names I am like, “Geeze! I have never seen anyone famous!” Wait, I lied I ran into Christian Siriano once #fangirlmoment! Anyways, after we finished our coffees and were walking out one of the gals whispers to me, “literally Jason Biggs was sitting behind you the entire time” So I turn around and what do you know, he was right behind us chatting with friends! Ummm hello Catherine, open your eyes girlfriend!

After our coffee date we headed over to meet with Sylvia the designer of Sika Collection. It is a size 10+ luxury dress collection, which is seriously to die for! Such amazing stitchwork, patterns, and material that is oh so flattering filled her showroom so Dani and I of course had to spend a moment with each amazing piece!

So the one place on my must see list was Pietro NoLita. You guys this place needs no explanation at all. The interior totally speaks for itself! With the head to toe pink and delicious menu options, which were also the perfect portion size. I splurged and had the egg sandwhich which also came with a fresh side salad, which I totally recommend. Also, the owner saw my friend Dani’s Instagram stories she posted while we were there and he came over and introduced himself, so nice!  Also, the whole staff was so amazing and we had awesome customer service.

Then Dani did an Instragram takeover at the most feminist style store on earth, Bulletin! This place is seriously filled with so many little things that you will ooo and ahhhh and oh year girl over! I loved how raw and real they were with their messages on their apparel, jewelry, and more. Head to their Instagram to see what I mean!

After that we headed to the launch party of the Sika Collection, we just can’t get enough of them! It was in such an amazing space with live music, great foods, and of course champs! I had an opportunity to try on the collection myself, which of course I fell in love with the pastel pink and floral number. I also had the chance to meet so many amazing local NY bloggers, models, and more!

We were so exhausted at the end of the night so we just strolled around by our hotel and just tried our chances at whatever places were open. So we stumbled across this place called 1803 that has hot pink and palm tree wallpaper and a live swing band. Then before I knew it the bar tender gave me beads and I was like wait this feels like New Orleans and what do you know it was a Mardi Gras themed bar, so fun! Also, I was in convo with Dani and I said, “You know I have never been to a burlesque show before I would love to go to one sometime.” Then the lead of the band comes on the mic and says everyone  I would like you to give a warm welcome to GiGi La Femme and then BAM a burlesque dancer pops out and gives us a show! Ok NY you must be reading my mind or something.

Phew what a day and stay tuned for Day 3 which was filled with shows and also an almost wardrobe malfunction, stay tuned!

Day One: NYFW Recap!

Why is it when I am on 4 hours of sleep and at work I am sooooo draggy, but when I am on a trip with four hours of sleep I am acting like I can take on the world and run a marathon? Well, that was definitely the case for me this past week as I was so lucky to go to New York for NYFW for some of the runway shows!

Now I know my posts are about fashion on a budget so me posting about high end fashion you may be sitting there thinking, “Girl what the whatttttt,” but I will say I see these fashion shows as a total work of art. So I want to use the street style and the runway looks that I got to see as inspiration to be brought into my looks I will share with you all in these next couple of months, but obviously more affordable.

So to start I saw so much fur in terms of street style of so many stylish people heading from show to show. There are so many amazing options from short to long or bright colors that pop! I took this trend for a spin and did a black fur from Ellos, which was super warm and I felt really cool in…P.S. I am the farthest thing from cool…but I am sure you guys already knew that.

So I decided to do a day by day recap of my time in NY instead of a long and drawn out post. My girl Dani of Blonde in the District, and I once again took the oh so classy Megabus at 6 am (good lord that is early) and got downtown around 10 am.  After feeling like I needed an IV of coffee we checked into the the Frederick Hotel. This hotel was really nice, wonderful staff, and really adorable rooms! Since we woke up soooo early we were super hungry and of course a greasy spoon restaurant and a bloody mary sounded delish, but reality was with no sleep a meal on the healthier side was the better choice. So we came across this little place called Mulberry & Vine. It was basically the Chipotle style of clean eating. They had veggie and protein bowls and of course wine in a can. I am sure the inventor of wine in a can is literally a bazillionare living on their own island somewhere.

After that we freshened up and headed to our first show, Lanyu! This collection was so beautiful with ready to wear looks, which I really loved. Next up was Pamella Rowland. Now this show was literally like seeing my fashion dreams come to life! Beautiful gowns with intricate beadwork and the color scheme was on point. Oh and Nigel Barker was sitting front row across from where I was, ahhhh total fangirl moment!

Then we had a little snack break at this neon crazy and adorable bakery called Supermoon. Just go to their Instagram, no need to explain any further. Then we ended the night with drinks at this little bar called Nurse Bettie, which is this pin up girl vintage style bar. It totally cracked me up that one of their drink options was a Miller Light and a wells shot. I mean for a second I was like wait am I back in the Midwest?

So here are a couple of photos from my camera roll that I took during the day. Stay tuned for Day 2 this week!

Chatting Amazon Fashion!

The 1 am trance of Instagram stories, sound familiar? Yes, it is a place that I am sure we have all been in one way or another. Usually after these stories I sit there thinking about how “Oh I should travel to this place” or “Oh I should try that restaurant.” More recently though I was seeing all of these posts about Amazon Fashion. Usually my Amazon purchases have been socks and fitted sheets and I was totally clueless that clothing was even an option to explore or how great of quality the pieces could be. Now that there is same day shipping & prime shopping  for clothing online with Amazon makes total sense since it can be delivered so quickly!

Also, I can’t remember if I told you guys but I am going to NY and wanted to find a bootie that is stylish and can be worn out and about without my ankles feeling like they are going to fall off. The ones I have in my main photo are the ones that I snagged and I can’t wait to show you guys how I styled them, but you will have to stay tuned. Especially the 70% of you who voted that they were not feeling this bootie on my poll on Insta stories. I am determined to change your mind! On the other hand maybe I won’t and we can just still remain BFF’s and wear our matching BFF bracelets…too far? I agree. I also rounded up for you guys some of my top favorite embroidered finds for under $50 below!

Have any of you guys shopped Amazon fashion? How did you like it?
