The must have dress for your closet!

Anyone else wanting to wear their pajamas in public this week? I must be feeling some type of seasonal fashion depression as of late with the weather going from hello two piece bathing suit weather to ok where is my parka it is -12 outside.  So how does one stock their closet for these tricks mother nature is pulling on us? Transitional dresses are the answer!

Now when it comes to purchasing transitional dresses what matters the most in my opinion is the material, fit, and print.  This does sound like a no brainer, but purchasing dresses without some of these specific details may leave you in the cold or having pit stains that almost reach down to your waistline…been there…seriously…not fun.  My go to transitional dress this season has been this very light knit, long sleeve, cross chested dress by Who What Wear from Target.  Ok, I have to confess I am pretty sure I have an obsession with this brand, but I mean come on their prices are on point and they have a variety of sizes for all of their pieces!

This dress is perfect because if the weather is a bit warmer this can be worn with bare legs, open toed heels, and you can skip the jacket.  If it is more on the cooler side you can pair this dress with tights, ankle boots, and a leather motto jacket.  If you feel like a mix of both you can even style it how I pictured here with bare legs, ankle boots, and no jacket!

Purse, TJ Maxx, under $40 | Booties, ASOS, undr $50
Earrings, Francesca’s, under $30

The material has the perfect amount of stretch to it and with that little bit of sparkle can give you the total glam vibes by adding simple accessories. This dress was under $50 and you can buy it online as well.  I also included a couple of other great transitional dresses from the Who What Wear collection with links to shop!

Slipping into a Who What Wear Slip Dress!

Show of hands…who made it to NYFW last week? Now show of hands of who didn’t…cue my slow awkward hand raise. Well, for those that raised their hands raise the roof babes, that is amazing! From what I see on Instagram and my fellow blogger fashionistas it is not only the absolutely amazing designers and creatives, but also a great way to get inspiration on street style looks as well. The real take away I get from the runway looks is inspiration on how to recreate that look on my kind of budget. Which is let’s just say I am not running out to purchase Gucci pumps anytime soon, but that is ok!  This is where my favorite brand, Who What Wear, comes in.

So I tuned into their Facebook live runway show last week and I was absolutely blown away.  You were able to directly shop the looks instantly on the models that were strutting down the runway literally from your phone. I mean let’s get real here we are all busy boss babes out there and we are ready to shop those trends now!  More importantly let’s talk about body diversity on that runway.  I was in love with the variety of gorgeous women who were tall, short, curvy, thin, you name it!  It really gave you the feel of how you could actually pull off a realistic look appropriate for the office or for your next party! Cheers to you Who What Wear you took the gold in my eyes for NYFW!

This week’s post I just had to share my latest find from Target’s Who What Wear collection.  What is great about this slip dress is yes it does have that springy vibe, but paired with a leather jacket gives it that balance for those chillier temps.  When it hits that sunny 70 degrees take off that jacket and you have the perfect summer dress! Yes, I know that some of you are thinking “oh I can’t pull of a midi dress, I am too short.”  Well let me tell you sister think again! I think pairing this look with a pair of heels gives you that length you may be looking for.  So just try it out! Oh and did I mention this dress is only $35! Ok now put down your latte or take a break from binge watching cat videos and get to Target to get your hands on this dress and share with me how you would style it!

Never judge a dress on a hanger…

At first when looking on the hanger at this Who What Wear Collection dress at Target in the sale section I thought “ohhhh this screams the Sound of Music!”  Unfortunately, I do not have the vocal range or elegance of being able to spin around glamorously in a field of greens without getting nauseous and falling flat on my face.

Even with these thoughts in mind I gave a shrug of the shoulders and headed to the dressing room. Boy, was I wrong in thinking this was a look that felt dated!  I love the flow of this dress and the sheer material gives it a bit of a playful vibe!  Considering the cut of this dress is short sleeved and cut at mid calf I wanted to give this look a bit of an edge so I added my Steve Madden ankle boots that have a tassle zipper detail in the back. If you are not feeling on the edgier side this look can pair great with flats, wedges, or a military style jacket.

Lesson learned that you should never judge a dress on a hanger!

Oh Hello Autumn!

As I awoke last week and opened my newsfeed I saw posts of pumpkin, plaid, pumpkin spice, and all things fall! Happy first of Autumn everyone! As I leaped (more like sluggishly crawled out) out of bed to get dressed my first thought was yesssss time for boots, sweaters, and all things cozy! As I slipped on my jeans, suede booties, and sweater to hop out the door and start walking to my car it looked like someone poured a bucket of water on me was how much I started sweating. Note to self, even though it is the first day of Autumn the weather can still be a scorching 90 degrees! So this post is dedicated to my gals out there who want that fall style, but want to feel literally “cool” in this warmer weather!

The look I am giving you is a sweater dress with a partial higher neckline, a sleeveless trench vest, and black pleather booties.  The sleeveless sweater dress is a great staple piece for your closet since it gives you the feel of fall and this can transition perfectly when it is colder pairing with a leather jacket or high boots. At first, the trench vest felt a little hard to pair with different looks, but I got some inspo from the Who What Wear Collection Instagram! It can also pair great with jeans and a black tee as seen in my post last year.

So I know what you are thinking that the fashion gods may frown upon me for wearing a midi dress and I am wearing ankle boots which will make my legs appear “shorter.” To be perfectly honest, I felt great in this look and that is what matters! Forget the rules, wear what feels good!

What are your favorite trends you are looking forward to this fall? Let’s start the convo, comment below!
