Did you say shoulder pads? Episode 10 & 11 Recap!

There was ALOT to dish last week on the Fashun Chronicles podcast and this recap is coming to you 2 days late! So let’s hurry up and dive in!

Brand of the Week– Hellooooo Modcloth! Well, I love the online shopping experience, but in this segment we talk about the Fit Shop in DC…welcome to the next revolution of in-store shopping experiences joining forces with e-commerce. OK this sounds like an intro to an action movie.

Whats Trending– Are those little baby pillows for your ears? Enjoy that visual and no it is a shoulder pad. Giving all the opinions on this trend making a comeback. Ready to serve some Murphy Brown for you babes. Oh and here is how to shop the dress I talked about from Eloquii pictured above!

Who to Follow– Shannon will make you laugh, cry, and maybe you will have a mild stomach cramp after hanging out with her because she is such a gem! On a business note she is a social media strategist and promotes how to increase your exposure and followers in an organic way. She is always giving free tips on her stories…go follow her at @boutiquesocialdc

Fashion Win of the Week– Brad and I actually look presentable for a Friendsgiving over the week instead of looking like trainwrecks like we do half the time.

Fashion Fail of the Week– My favorite bodysuit has betrayed me…sharing with you guys an awkward story on the podcast.

DC Fashion Events– Out of hibernation guys and I am feeling WELL! Chatting about Alison of @wardrobeoxygen event in the Encore section of Nordstrom for the launch of the line Pari Passu. Then I strolled over to @blonde_inthedistrict event at Eloquii to shop all the holiday glam looks! No, I did not buy an Auntie Anne’s pretzel…even though I really wanted one.  Here is the stunning two piece set that came home with me! Shop here for skirt and here for top.

Style Tip– Yes your silky and light dresses can be worn as a top! Say what?! Pair with a midi skirt and tuck it in and make sure the dress underneath is shorter and Waaaa Laaaaaa…versatility!

Sick & No Caffeine…but we still make it FASHUN! Ep. 8 & 9 Recap!

Well, as is in life things are not always perfect! I will be giving you guys two episodes per week on Monday & Thursdays, but I am realizing it is hard for me to get a blog post up on Fridays…so Saturdays it is! I still have the blog because sometimes I talk about looks on the podcast and if you guys wanted to shop them you can just hop, skip and a jump right over here to find the links! I know you guys this is riveting groundbreaking news, but now that we are alllllll on the same page…come back here every Saturday for a new post!

OK!!!!!! Now what did we cover over the last two episodes of the Fashun Chronicles podcast? Well, for starters on Tuesday I almost hacked up a lung on air so that was super CUTE (not) and Thursday we chatted about how I want ALL of my hairdressers shoes…which keep reading for more on that. So let’s chat about our segments:

Brand of the Week– Meet ASOS! You guys will see me sporting this brand a lot when I am in NY for New York Fashion Week. They offer super unique and stylish choices that are at a super affordable price. Like the cover photo, yes that yellow fringe dream is ASOS! I wanted to link this piece, but looks like it is no longer available, so click here for a super cute option that is similar!

What’s Trending– White boots! Ok so at first when I saw tried this trend I felt like a 1998 olympic figure skater, but now that I found the right pair from ASOS actually, I am hooked! So the ones I chat about in the episode are out of stock but here is a fabulous alternative!

Who to Follow– So we met over Instagram and bonded over our love of the Chicago White Sox! Meet Alex of @sassyconfetti This girl knows all the hot spots for food and drink in Chicago, has amazing style, and will literally make you laugh till you cry on her Instagram stories, go follow her!

Fashion Win & Fail of the Week– WIN was when I was changing over my closet for the fall/winter I didn’t have as many pieces I needed to change over like I do every year. I was super conscious about purchasing dresses for examples that I can wear from spring to fall for example with just the addition of tights and a leather moto jacket and boots. Minimalist…but not really…but trying.

Fail was all about how hard I am on my boots! The scuff marks and worn out heels are very real. I think it is time to invest in a higher quality boot! Like these PS Kaufman boots my hairdresser Sandra is always rocking!

Whats the Scoop– Barneys is closing! Sidenote, I have never been into or can afford Barneys…but it got me thinking about how I am going to miss the in person shopping experience since all these stores are closing!

Style Tip of the Week– Chatting about how to keep your sweaters in tip top shape and all you need is a disposable razor! Confused? Well, have a listen to see what the heck I am talking about!

Feeling Fa-boo-lous! Episode 4 & 5 Recap!

What…a…week! I am filled to the brim with candy and regret, but dang it was a perfect Halloween week! Let’s be honest Halloween is never just one day. It is the week before week after and why not work those costumes into a themed party next month.

Before we dive into the Fashun Chronicles podcast episode recap I didn’t get a chance to chat with you guys about my Instagram post that I posted on Halloween of Dani and I re-enacting the Lucy & Ethel chocolate factory scene shot by the amazingly talented, Arielle Lewis!

When Dani mentioned that she wanted to do some sort of girlfriend duo photoshoot I feel like we immediately shouted out LUCY & ETHEL! Now I want to take a bit of a deeper dive into this. As we started chatting about this duo it really got us reflecting on the personalities of each character and how appropriate it was that Dani was Lucy then me…Ethel…the one that says randomn funny thoughts she has in her head that Lucy will just give her a look like “girl what?!”, but they experience fun everyday adventures together which is also accurate for us! It was so much fun and thank you to everyone who commented and shared our work, love love love youuuuuu!

Ok so here is what you missed on this weeks episodes of the podcast…

Brand of the Week– You may remember my giveaway that I did with the STUNNING collection of hand-made leather bags, Sister Epic! Adrienne the owner is such a gem and her taste is impeccable…even when she is wearing Crocs.

What’s Trending– Speaking of Crocs we discuss my thoughts about this trend creeping back into our lives and I share my own tragic experience with crocs too…you will have a chuckle.

Fashion Inspo– Alison of Wardrobe Oxygen & Mya of More than your Average

Fashion Win & Fail of the Week– Honestly, there were not a whole lot of wins besides showing up for the day and dressing my best so that is a win! Fails included me planning an epic costume for Halloween only to have my procrastinating ways hold me back!

DMV Events– Stopped into the fabulous Timur of @timurdc & @designingthedistrict influencer party he threw at Beetlehouse, the Beetlejuice bar! The décor is epic, drinks are on point, and the performers…I mean there was a sword swallower…I have no words you must check it out because it is year round!

Big congrats to my girl Dani who celebrated her 5 year Blogiversary at one of my favorite spots, the Peoples Drug in Old Town, Alexandria. Dani was my first friend in this blogging community and through her I have been connected to so many other amazing creatives that I am so happy to call friends. Ok Im not crying…your crying!

Style Tip of the Week– Always planning last minute costumes like me? Well, always keep a super duper statement piece in your closet. Like pieces with sequins, metallic, neon colors so when the time comes and you need to throw a costume together you aren’t spending a ton of money last minute!

Don’t forget you can catch new episodes of the Fashun Chronicles podcast every Monday & Thursday! Have a fashion emergency and need advice?! Fashun Chronicles Ep. 2 & 3 Recap!

Inhale and exhallleeeeeeeeeeeeee…this has literally been my motto these past 2 weeks since I am so AMPED about posting 2 new episodes of the Fashun Chronicles Podcast! It has been a whirlwhind of fun and also a HUGE learning curve. I am over here like, wait what is the difference between importing and exporting? What is a track? What is my password? Never to old to learn something new! Next up…tap dancing…kidding, but now I think I may look into it! Move over Shirley Temple there is a new gal in town!

Anywayssssss…you can now catch new episodes of my podcast on Mondays and Thursdays and Fridays here on the blog you can catch recaps of the episodes just in case you missed it or want to shop the links of the pieces I talk about. Also, I feel like fashion is so visual so keeping my blog around to give you guys that experience I think will be super duper! Oh and the voicemail feature for you to leave a message with your fashion emergency that I will play and answer on the podcast is ready and waiting for you! Just dial 443-333-8795! Ok so here are the segements you missed…

Style Challenge

So on Monday we chatted about how the week before I was doing a lot of travel for work and I am trying to sweet talk you all into sporting a jumpsuit on your next flight. I am all about that not overpacking life and if you find the right jumpsuit that gives you the right level of comfort you can sport it with a cozy sweater, jean or cargo jacket and comfy slip ons and when you exit stage left off the plane just a quick dose of deodorant, spritz of dry shampoo, some lipstick, heels and a pair of statement earrings and you are ready to hit the town! So not only are we staying efficient on having our time well spent on not trying to figure out what to wear, you are also saving room in your luggage while staying comfy. Now the one I always wear by Ava and Viv at Target is no longer on the website, but I found an amazing alternative, click the link!

Brand of the Week

Was so excited to have Navabi be the first brand shout out of my podcast! This Germany based brand has been such a pleasure to work with and I love that their collection feels very true to size. Also, I am all about having looks and styles that can fit anyone’s taste. Like this retro dream that I have been wearing on repeat this fall!

Trends

Now this was a bit more of a humorous segment where we chatted about how hilarious it is to see people walk around airports with their actual neck pillows around their necks. Am I jealous since my neck is so thick that the pillow would literally fall off?? Maybe…actually yes very much so. Now I challenge you to count how many people you see rocking this potential trend in the airport and who knows you may see it on the runways of NYFW…you never know!

Accounts to follow

I am inspired on the daily by sooooo many accounts on Instagram and it is amazing to be connected to creatives across the world! I gave a shoutout in this segment to one of the original Fashun Chroniclers, Dani of Blonde in the District and also to Arielle Lewis for shooting my brand photos! These women are so inspiring and pushed me to start this podcast journey…could not have done this without them!

Fashion Win/Fail of the Week

Went outside my fashion comfort zone and sported a turtleneck and also failed with wearing suede in the rain. Listen to all the cringe worthy details on this segment, which I am sure many of you can relate to!

Whats Happening in the DMV?

I popped over to the Everlane pop up denim bar in Georgetown this week, which was hosted by the stunning and oh so stylish Sylvia of @simplysylviadc it was like a fit shop style where you can try on jeans and purchase to be shipped to you or you could buy in store as well! Totally affordable, but I will say make sure you size up because there is not a whole lot of stretch, but with that being said it was such great quality of denim that is definitely built to last…ok I think I took that last line out of a truck commercial lol! Also popped into the Harpers Bazaar X Longchamp X Connoisseur event where the champagne was flowing and the new La Voyageuse Collection was stunning with a capital S!!!!

Style Tip

How to wear a dress as a blouse…is this magic you ask? Nope just busting out those knot tieing skills you learned in Girl Scouts!

Of course we wrap up each show with answering questions from Instagram and voicemails! I love hearing from you guys and I can’t wait to keep this fashun train rolling! Love you all and stay fashunable darrrrrrrrrlings…

You can also listen to each episode below and don’t forget you can also listen to my episodes on the Apple Podcast App and also on Spotify!
