Recently I saw a meme that was “I never understood why we get so dressed up for Thanksgiving and don’t go anywhere, just walking around the kitchen fly as hell.” I was seriousssssly cracking up because it is so so soooo true! Yes, I do love to strut in on turkey day with a fabulous dress and devour all things turkey and stuffing, but the aftermath of sitting uncomfortably on this major cheat day is no fun!

Luckily the drawstring jogger pant has come back into our lives in a major way so that you can be comfortable while still looking fashionable! Yes, I agree when I hear the word jogger pant I think of when I was a kid waiting for the bus for school in the morning and I would see this couple dressed in matching purple swishy jacket and pant sets power walking through the neighborhood. Major props to them, but no I am not talking about clothing that literally announces you are walking into a room when you are a mile away (swish, swish, swish).

Also, joggers are the perfect addition to any wardrobe because you can dress them up or down with simply adding casual tennies, ankle strap heels, a jean jacket, or blazer. A couple of months ago I was in my all time favorite city, Chicaaaaaaaago, for one of my best friends wedding. If you also can recall I took you guys on a little tour through the Eloquii in downtown Chi-town! I gave you guys a glimpse into my dressing room to help me find the perfect rehearsal dinner dress I needed to wear that evening.

We went through a roller coaster of styles together from leather to florals to statement sleeves and more. It was a tough choice, but luckily I had you guys and a glass of champagne provided by the lovely Eloquii staff. I chose this luxurious feeling ruby red velvet wrap dress that literally felt like butter and let’s be honest butter and I are bff’s. So I posted a photo of myself and my friend who was getting married and man you all know how to make a girl feel special! I received so many lovely comments on how much you all loved this dress!

Usually I stay away from velvet since I usually get overheated and start the awkward sweats, but Eloquii has totally selected the lightest material that still feels so rich! So after an adventure filled weekend of having brunch with a friend for her birthday, going dancing at a salsa club and catching up on a bit of work, Sundays are the days where I try to get my life together. I feel like in some ways we all are.  Whether that is making long lists and successfully crossing everything off or like me…pulling the warm laundry out of the dryer and laying it on my bed to only find myself two hours later awaking from a nap in said warm, fluffy, laundry.

Part of this getting my life together routine also consists of stopping at the grocery store for food for the week and attempting to ignore the baked goods section at Whole Foods. It is almost like the bagels just know the way to my heart, but I must resist. So as I am passing by the freezer section I just so happen to catch my reflection and let me tell you I gave myself a bit of a fright! Yes, I was in what you would call athleisure, but I looked like I absolutely woke up on the wrong side of the bed.  Don’t get me wrong we all have these days, but lately I am trying to be the best version of myself and with a rip in my leggings and a stain on my sweater with my hair all frizzy frizzed I needed to make a change.

Now I am not saying throw on a prom dress the next time you run out to get gas, but I wanted to make the search easier for you guys. Oh the joys of finding a gorgeous suede over the knee boot at Nordstrom that is the perfect height. You imagine yourself salsa dancing in them (reality check, you don’t know how to salsa) and you ask the sales person if they have your size. Opening the box it almost appears as if rays of sunshine are beaming from the inside, a choir harmonizes in the background as you begin to remove all of the unnecessary stuffing from the boot you start to slip the right foot on. It slips perfectly on your foot and next you begin to slip it up your calf, which ultimately leads to a halting stop like a freight train. You strain, pull, contemplate grabbing some butter to have it slip over your leg, but alas the calf is too small. Anyone else experience this? I absolutely did last month and it was so frustrating!
