Chatting with Lauren Petersen, Owner, LP Littles!

So I have recently become a major fan of the #GIRLBOSS book and podcast by Sophia Amoruso, Founder, Nasty Gal.  If you have not heard of her before you must check it out for whether you are an aspiring entrepreneur or you want to just take your position at work up a notch, this is a great way to keep the motivation train rolling! My guest blogger for this post is most definitely rocking that #GIRLBOSS life. She has taken her love of fashion and making clothing for friends and family now to the tiny babes of microfashion! Meet Lauren Petersen, Owner, LP Littles and here is her story-

CF: What is the story behind LP Littles and when did you launch your business?

LP: My love for clothing and interest in sewing began at a young age, and I always knew I wanted to pursue a creative career. I followed my passion and studied Apparel Design and Technology at Purdue University and abroad at the London College of Fashion. After graduating college in 2012, I worked for two different clothing designers in Chicago before launching my own original women’s clothing line, LP by Lauren Petersen, in March of 2014. I didn’t launch my children’s line, LP Littles, until August of 2015.

CF: How did you start taking an interest in designing children’s clothing?

LP: Funnily enough, I never really saw myself designing children’s wear! I always had a passion for women’s clothing, but after making many outfits for my family and friends’ little ones as gifts, I fell in love with it and thought a children’s line would be a great addition to my company. It has been so much of fun!

CF: Where do you get your inspirations for designs?

LP: I don’t think I get my inspiration from one certain place or thing. Life in general is just so inspiring to me. All of my experiences, travels, and adventures spark and grow my creativity every day. An idea will just pop into my head and I’ll run with it and see where it takes me. I love finding unique ways to pair different colors and prints together to create high quality, handmade designs that can’t be found in large retail stores.

CF: What ages do you design for?

LP: Newborn to 5T
