Running in Style for Aunt Pat!

We all know that one family that has what seems like a 1,000 grandkids, 800 cousins, 300 aunts and uncles…and that is only on one side of the family. Family get togethers consist of wet kisses on the cheek from grandma, cheersing beers to health and happiness, a whole lot of laughter, sarcastic comments and jokes left and right, but always a whole lot of love!  This description will give you the perfect vision for the DeCusatis, O’Connor, & Connelly family.

This past September, their family experienced the loss of a wonderful sister, mother, and friend who is the Godmother of one of my close friends, Patricia DeCusatis (Aunt Pat), from Gliobastoma (GBM), a form of brain cancer.  When using the term “loss” it does not even feel like a word that should be included in my prior statement. I say that because her spirit has been found and lives on through the fundraising and awareness that this family is now spreading through the Race for Hope.  The Race for Hope is a 5k dedicated to raise brain cancer awareness and to raise money for research.

That same family gathering feel will be brought to the race course April 25th in Wilmington, Delaware and May 3rd in Washington, DC! While supporting a great cause you also want to look fabulous when crossing that finish line for Aunt Pat!  I am hightlighting the looks that Erin and friend Kelly will be sporting for both races!

Erin is rocking a racer back cotton gray tank from Victoria Secret, Pink collection, perfect for comfort and also gray is the color in support of brain cancer awareness! Her spandex capris are perfect for running long distances since it is a poly blend and has a bit of stretch! Come on…who doesn’t love a little turquoise accent on the side!  Also, the key to a successful race is to have the right running shoes.  Erin’s choice is a bright and vibrant pair from Asics.  If you are not so comfortable with bold colored clothing, bold shoes is where it’s at!

Struggling to get out the door for a run? Throwing on some hot pink will immediately turn your mood up a level to get going!  Kelly is showing off her, Under Armour, hot pink top, which is perfect for any type of weather along with spandex capris by Calvin Klein.  Her choice of running shoe is, Nike, found for under $75 at Sports Authority!

Golden Girls Inspiration

If you are currently reading this post it most likely means you either love all things shiny or you get giddy when you hear the Golden Girls theme song “thank you for being a friend.” Either way…happy you are here!

Today’s post is all about my Consignment Shop Find of the Week. Featured below is a pair of peep toe, Steve Madden, snakeskin, metallic gold flats.  Was able to pick up these babies up for $15 in excellent condition in a size 10 at my local womens consignment shop! Typically a style and brand like this can retail for $50-60, so this was definetely a great find!

Understandable, many would see these and think “whoa, I could never pull those off”…think again gorgeous!  The metallic look goes perfect with a basic outfit, such as dark skinnies and a white tee.  The buzz lately has been all about statement necklaces, but a statement shoe can take your look from “meh” to dazzling!

From Easter Brunch to the Boardroom

Can I see a show of hands of who has bought an overpriced outfit for a holiday occasion, wore it once, and now it sits in the back of your closet?  Believe me I have been there and done that, but now it’s time to shop smart this season!  For this weeks post I wanted to dedicate it to my hand raisers out there on how to take that holiday look and transition it to the workplace.

Let’s “hop” right into it…see what I did there, you know since it was Easter yesterday?  Thank you for your pity chuckle, now lets get down to the look I chose!  For starters when shopping for that holiday look always good to find material that is light weight and has colors/tones that you can mix & match with.  I chose a a white, blue, a bit of turqouise tunic from Old Navy on sale for $15.  Not only is the price on point, but this is a great piece to build a whole other look around.  Also, to glitz it up a bit I added blue & crystal earrings also from Old Navy for under $10!  FYI Old Navy has been bringing it with their affordable jewelry selection, you must check it out!

So after the eggs are found, church has been attended, and you have recovered from your food coma, what is next for this fabulous dress?  You guessed it…or maybe you didn’t, in any case put a blazer on it!  This takes your look to a whole new level from holiday party to workplace appropriate.  Dressing the look down a bit with a pair of nude flats brings the look full circle. Found this blazer from Target for $35 and also paired with basic nude & crystal earrings from Old Navy for $12!
