First Day of Summer Retro Vibes with ELOQUII!

One of my very good friends has opened me up to the word of rockabilly. Have you heard of this style? Well, I think I am explaining it correctly. In a nutshell it is mix of retro 50’s inspired looks meets bluegrass with a bit of edge.  I am obsessed with gals that rock that pin-up girl vibe with high waisted pants, polka dots, and bold colored rimmed glasses!

So inspired by this style that I got my hands on this 50’s retro vibing wrap dress from ELOQUII! This dress is giving you that unique touch, but with a classic silhouette.  Also, I love how the tie straps are adjustable so that you are comfortable in the bust area. Rocking this look for a casual date night, brunch, or even for a rehearsal dinner is perfect for those warm temps on these first days officially of summer.

ELOQUII has also just launched their Centric Eccentric Collection that is giving you total retro vibes, but with fun and flirty modern prints and colors! Keep scrolling to see my top three favorite picks from this collection and follow this link to shop my look!

One of those “Wear it 3 Ways” Dresses!

Now what if I told you I could create three different looks on one dress without adding any accessories. Yes, feel free to take a second to ponder, maybe go make a sandwich, feed the dog, then come back and give it a shot on how you think I did this.  Well, I cannot take the credit on this one, it is the amazing designers at ELOQUII!

This little number may look familiar because I wore it earlier this month.  I attended the Fashion for Lost Dog & Rescue Foundation hosted by one of my favorite DC bloggers & major girl boss, Dani of Blonde in the District, at the ELOQUII Pop-up Shop in Pentagon Fashion Center. Also, in this dress I did a solid Boomerang with a a little twirl of the dress and a shoulder shake.  Usually what my Boomerang attempts consist of are awkward faces and having to re-do them at least 3 times, almost comparable to attempting to do those group jumping shots.  On the flip side these make for enjoyable messages to later share with friends on these #boomshakalakafails as I like to call them.

So just like that with the tie detail around the neck, tie in the front, or just tucked right in you have 3 ways to wear this amazing dress! What I also love is that you can style to wear the neckline up on your shoulders or off to give a bit of a flirty & fun vibe.

The elastic in this dress around the neckline is on point by the way.  Anyone else get freaked out when the off the shoulder dress neckline pops up out of nowhere on you and you are all ready to go into karate kung fu fighting because you think someone touched you? Only me? Ok…grrrrrreat. Well, no worries on this dress since the neckline stays right where it should. Even if you do decided to bust out those killer dance. Go ahead, raise the roof, bring that dance move back in this dress!

Sometimes the tricky thing about these flowy spring dresses is that they are not lined and can be a bit see through, but you are in luck. No need for a slip on this baby since it is lined as well!

Now if you live in the DC Metro get yourself to the ELOQUII Pop-up Shop this month…they now have bathing suits! Yes, bathing suits, woo hoo!

ELOQUII Pop-Up Shop comes to Washington, DC!

I’m sure at some point when you insert the red dress cha-cha lady emoji to a text message you think “Oh girl, that red dress is fabulous! I wonder where she got that from?” Well, if red cha-cha lady emoji was shopping in real life I am sure she would have snagged it from ELOQUII. When I slipped this vibrant red belle sleeve shift dress on I felt like doing a bit of a cha-cha dance myself!

So this week is very exciting because I will be attending the launch party for the first ever ELOQUII pop-up shop in Washington, DC! As a fashion blogger and small business owner for closet clean outs/styling consultations, Take 2 Styling, it really excites me that DC was selected as the first location.  I truly feel like DC has such an up and coming fashion scene and there are so many talented men and women in the fashion community here making it happen!

Also, for being a woman who has a majority of her life worn above a size 12 it is so refreshing to see a brand that creates clothing that can be seen on any size woman whether it is a crop top, skinny jean, or a form fitted dress. It is about what is in trend and at an affordable price!  Usually I have never been able to shop online because either brands do not go above a size 12 or Large. Those restrictions can make you feel like you can’t get in on the latest trends, which can really be a hit to your confidence. When I visit the ELOQUII website I can shop on their confidently and comfortably since there is such a variety of sizes and styles to help you build a professional wardrobe or for the next cocktail party you need to attend!

If you are diving into ELOQUII for the first time I will say my favorite go to pieces have been their dress selection.  The quality, fit, and style have always been on point and are typically under $50, #winning! Check out their feature in the Washingtonian about the pop-up shop and a little history about how ELOQUII became the brand it has become today.  You can also just check out their latest press release below and their new line “Dreamweaver” collection…oh yes…it is dreamy!

Spring…is that you??

So these warm temperatures out here on the east coast has made me feel like the groundhog was totally playing us!  Six more weeks of winter…psych (kind of).  The minute you bust out your sandals for the day the temp drops 30 degrees and then that I imagine that groundhog pointing and laughing with his evil groundhog laugh about how cold I am. Darn you adorable groundhog!

Well, besides my random rant about rodents I wanted to share how to style some of your spring pieces that you have already busted out of storage that you want to wear now, but the temps may not allow for them yet.  The best way to make pieces transitional is all about layering! I have been totally down with the trend of wearing tank tops over basic white tees, kind of bringing that whole Deliah’s vibe back.  Please tell me you remember Deliah’s, I lived for that magazine every time it came into the mail each month!

So for this trend I took a knit crop top from Current Boutique that I snagged for under $20 and paired it with a sheer bell sleeved red top from Nordstrom Rack underneath.  Making sure you are balancing out this look with contrasting materials gives trying this trend an effortless feel!

How do you wear your spring pieces for winter temps?!
