The ski jacket that made falling look fashionable

When asked, “Want to go snowboarding this weekend?” My response is “Yes, amazing, awesome, let’s go!” My first thought is,”What am I going to wear?” Then I start having flashbacks of borrowing snow gear from one of my family members, which almost ended in split pants and a case of the awkwards. For a girl like myself, snow gear does not always fit so nice.  Let’s be honest, as I am gracefully falling down a mountain I want to be fashionable while doing it.

In my excursion to find a jacket  for the slopes I came to the point where everything I tried on was either too tight in the shoulders, wouldn’t zip, or was wayyyyyyyy out of my price range.  Before heading to the men’s section to see if something would fit there I held my head a bit in defeat. Then my eye caught these gloriously bright jackets aligning the walls of Sports Authority’s North Face section.  As I scanned through the sizes of small, small, small, extra small, and then the angels started harmonizing in the background “hallelujah, hallelujah, theres an extra large, there’s an extra large, there’s an extra large!”

The reason why I wanted to post about something as simple as a jacket is because one look at the price tag and I will say I was a bit hesitant. The key thing to remember when  needing to make a bit of an investment that usually cannot be found so cheap is versatility.  The jacket I found can be worn In the spring as a wind breaker and for a snowboarding adventure of course layered with a fleece zip up and long sleeves.

So if you are heading to the slopes check out Sports Authority, North Face Women’s Resolve Jacket, for $70. Check it out on their website for more colors! http://t.sportsauthority.com/products/11786164?cp=12358911.2886009

Are you ready for some football!

When asked,” Who do you think is going to win the Superbowl this year?” My immediate reaction is, “Ohhhh obviously the team that obviously will win….psh duh” (insert smirk face) followed by secretly googling who is playing in the Superbowl this year.  Let’s be honest the real reason why I enjoy the Superbowl is the free snacks  and yummy craft beers at the parties.

If you find yourself in a position like myself, do you jump on the bandwagon and buy an overpriced jersey of a team you dont necessarily root for? No way girl! This year for the Superbowl party that I will be attending my outfit inspiration came from a football…literally. May sound silly, but with the black and brown combo inspiration this is a safe bet that even if you don’t know who is playing on Superbowl Sunday….you can fake it till you make it.

I recommend keeping it simple and comfy because after a  bit too much spinach & artichoke dip…we all know how that goes. A faux fur vest pairing or oversized sweater is the perfect outfit for the occasion. Throw on a pair of statement earrings or necklace with some skinnies and your all set!

Hope everyone has a blast today for Superbowl Sunday! Follow me for daily style posts on Twitter @dreamrealfash3 or on Instagram at dreamyrealistfashion and don’t forget to subscribe for weekly posts!

Meet Erin…the Statement Necklace Queen

Meet my friend Erin, also known as the statement necklace queen.  From the photo seen above is her archive of necklaces from Francesas, JCrew, and Charming Charlies, just to name a few and they were all for under $20!  A statement necklace is a perfect way to take a basic tee and glam it up without having to invest in a completely new outfit, which is always tempting, but let’s get real!

The usual comments I hear about some statement necklaces from friends when shopping is that they “feel overdressed” with the glitz and not sure of what they would even wear them with.  Also, there may also be the feeling they look like the sassy woman from the SNL Skit “Coffee talk with Linda Richman”

In reality a statement necklace is a look that anyone can pull off on any budget to give button ups an edgy look or giving that cozy sweater a bit of glam from work to happy hour! Check out how Erin keeps her looks fresh on a daily basis with these simple and chic looks!

From Work…to Workin’ It

Whether you work that 9-5 office job or from home everyone needs a break after a long work day.  From happy hour to book club or that blind date you are finally commiting to let’s be honest we all want that quick transitional look especially if you are short on time!

Meet my friend Kelly, who is exactly in these predicaments on a daily basis. By using a statement dress, H&M on consignment for $10, with a bold print you can easily accessorize and transition on the go! Safety precaution… I do not recommend accessorizing while driving.

For the daytime look keep it basic.  With the white button up tied at the waist gives it a bit of fun while still keeping it professional in the workplace.  You may feel a bit Sandra D-ish at first, but no worries anyone can pull off this look!
