Feeling Fresh with NY and Co.!

The saying less is more is a statement that I try to follow through all parts of my life.  Whether it comes to trying to not eat a large pizza alone or attempting to do a smokey eye and it looks like I am part of the Walking Dead zombie cast.

This especially comes more into play in terms of my wardrobe.  I definitely would not classify myself as a minimalist, but I do try to keep a routine of when I purchase a new dress, accessory, or shoe that means that one or more needs to filter out. Not just putting it in a bin and up to the attic it goes more like consigning them, selling on Poshmark, or donating to an amazing cause like Dress for Success.  As we all know life can get in the way sometimes of this what feels like an amazing routine so I have been getting into the mode of purchasing pieces that have a unique touch, but can be paired with more than just one item in my closet.

Pants, NY & Co. under $50 | Shoes, Steve Madden Outlets, under $30

That is where these black ankle pants from New York and Co. comes into play! What I love about this pant is that it picks up so many colors from the detail in the calf of red, white, blue, green, and pink that it can pair perfect with your basic white tee or dressed up with a red blouse like I have pictured! Even if your wardrobe has more of a neuteral color scheme and you want to turn it up a notch without going too far outside your comfort zone this is perfect for you. So I don’t think I will be taking this pant out of the rotation any time soon! Keep scrolling to check out these other pieces that I spotted online that are classic looks with a bit of unique detail for full versatility.

Purse, Current Boutique, under $100 | Watch, Current Boutique, under $100 | Top, Nordstrom Rack, under $40

The must have dress for your closet!

Anyone else wanting to wear their pajamas in public this week? I must be feeling some type of seasonal fashion depression as of late with the weather going from hello two piece bathing suit weather to ok where is my parka it is -12 outside.  So how does one stock their closet for these tricks mother nature is pulling on us? Transitional dresses are the answer!

Now when it comes to purchasing transitional dresses what matters the most in my opinion is the material, fit, and print.  This does sound like a no brainer, but purchasing dresses without some of these specific details may leave you in the cold or having pit stains that almost reach down to your waistline…been there…seriously…not fun.  My go to transitional dress this season has been this very light knit, long sleeve, cross chested dress by Who What Wear from Target.  Ok, I have to confess I am pretty sure I have an obsession with this brand, but I mean come on their prices are on point and they have a variety of sizes for all of their pieces!

This dress is perfect because if the weather is a bit warmer this can be worn with bare legs, open toed heels, and you can skip the jacket.  If it is more on the cooler side you can pair this dress with tights, ankle boots, and a leather motto jacket.  If you feel like a mix of both you can even style it how I pictured here with bare legs, ankle boots, and no jacket!

Purse, TJ Maxx, under $40 | Booties, ASOS, undr $50
Earrings, Francesca’s, under $30

The material has the perfect amount of stretch to it and with that little bit of sparkle can give you the total glam vibes by adding simple accessories. This dress was under $50 and you can buy it online as well.  I also included a couple of other great transitional dresses from the Who What Wear collection with links to shop!

ELOQUII Pop-Up Shop comes to Washington, DC!

I’m sure at some point when you insert the red dress cha-cha lady emoji to a text message you think “Oh girl, that red dress is fabulous! I wonder where she got that from?” Well, if red cha-cha lady emoji was shopping in real life I am sure she would have snagged it from ELOQUII. When I slipped this vibrant red belle sleeve shift dress on I felt like doing a bit of a cha-cha dance myself!

So this week is very exciting because I will be attending the launch party for the first ever ELOQUII pop-up shop in Washington, DC! As a fashion blogger and small business owner for closet clean outs/styling consultations, Take 2 Styling, it really excites me that DC was selected as the first location.  I truly feel like DC has such an up and coming fashion scene and there are so many talented men and women in the fashion community here making it happen!

Also, for being a woman who has a majority of her life worn above a size 12 it is so refreshing to see a brand that creates clothing that can be seen on any size woman whether it is a crop top, skinny jean, or a form fitted dress. It is about what is in trend and at an affordable price!  Usually I have never been able to shop online because either brands do not go above a size 12 or Large. Those restrictions can make you feel like you can’t get in on the latest trends, which can really be a hit to your confidence. When I visit the ELOQUII website I can shop on their confidently and comfortably since there is such a variety of sizes and styles to help you build a professional wardrobe or for the next cocktail party you need to attend!

If you are diving into ELOQUII for the first time I will say my favorite go to pieces have been their dress selection.  The quality, fit, and style have always been on point and are typically under $50, #winning! Check out their feature in the Washingtonian about the pop-up shop and a little history about how ELOQUII became the brand it has become today.  You can also just check out their latest press release below and their new line “Dreamweaver” collection…oh yes…it is dreamy!
