A Million Thank Yous!

So the past two weeks I have felt so much support from friends, family, colleagues, fellow bloggers and so many more who voted for me to have a shot at being the Dia & Co. Style Icon 2017.  Although I did not make it to the top 20 I am going to have to get all ugly cry on you guys and say that I truly felt like I won in a different way.  What I mean is all of the encouraging messages of reaching for the stars got me back to what is most important in life and that is those around you that you love! I cannot say THANK YOU enough to everyone who voted!

So for this post one of the questions from the contest was, “What is your definition of style?” The limit for the answer was only just 2-3 sentences, but I wanted to elaborate a bit more on this definition and hear how you guys define it too!

In this roller coaster ride that we call life there is a lot that is out of our control, but the one thing that we do have a say over is our own style! The amazing part about style is that it cannot tell you that you are “too big” or “too small” because it is in your control on how you want to express yourself to the world. Mixing colors, matching prints, pairing accessories can create conversations. It can strengthen relationships with friends or create them like running into a stranger at a coffee shop that says, “Cute dress, where did you get it from?” Even as simple as this exchange can create unity among so many people connecting over these shared interests. At the end of the day isn’t that what life is all about, building each other up and supporting one another.

My personal style would be like telling someone how to make a dish without a recipe. It is ok if the ingredients are not exact or if you did not measure everything correctly…it is about the journey. Even if this “dish” did not turn out perfect did you at least have fun along the way? That is how I look at my own personal style. If the experience is not pleasant or I am not enjoying myself then something needs to change. Changing for me meant not being concerned about the store my clothes came from or what size my jeans were, it is all about the fit and how it makes me feel. My friends, family, and local blogger community of fashionistas inspire me to remember that style is not about being perfect it is about being true to yourself!

How do you describe style or your own personal style?
